Eckart Schwarz-Schulz Cello
Born
in Munich, Eckart Schwarz-Schulz trained in Frankfurt and Vienna with Antonio
Meneses and Wolfgang Herzer. Having played as a student in all the major
Viennese Orchestras (Vienna Phil, State Opera, RSO) he became in 1998 Co-Principal
Cellist in the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland and is now its Principal
Cellist.
Recent Soloist appearances included Haydn's 'D-Major Concerto' with Dublin Baroque Players and Dvorak's 'Cello Concerto in B-Minor' with the Hibernian Orchestra. As a Chamber Musician he enjoys playing with the PRISM Ensemble and the Vindobona Piano Trio. Also as a regular Performer of contemporary music he has appeared with VOX21, the National Concert Hall's Composer's Choice, the Sligo Contemporary Music Festival, Boyle Arts Festival and in recitals in Dublin's Hugh Lane Gallery
. In the summer of 2001 Eckart played and acted with This Tortion Dance Company. Later in December 2001 he was invited to play as guest principal with the Philharmonic Orchestra London. He has taught at the Royal Irish Academy of Music and tutored the celli of the National Youth Orchestra of Ireland.
Eckart is playing a 17th century Venetian Cello by the former principal cellist of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra Robert Scheiwein.
