Susan Doyle Flute

Susan Doyle

Born in Galway, SUSAN DOYLE studied flute at the College of Music, Dublin, where she completed her BMus degree, and then at the Instituto Luigi Boccherini, Lucca, Italy, under Marzio Conti, where she graduated with first class honours in performance.

Susan is now very active as both a teacher and performer. She teaches at the Royal Irish Academy of Music and gives many solo and chamber concerts both in Ireland and in music festivals throughout Europe and the US.

She also plays regularly with the National Symphony Orchestra, the RTÉ Concert Orchestra, the Irish Chamber Orchestra, the Opera Theatre Company, Prey Trio as well as many other small chamber groups.

Susan has a special interest in contemporary music and is a member of the new music groups VOX21 and the Crash Ensemble, with whom she has performed in Montreal, Chicago and Sweden as well as the Sligo Contemporary Music Festival, Sonorities, Belfast, Composer's Choice, National Concert Hall and in the annual Mostly Modern Series in the Bank of Ireland. Susan will also be performing in the upcoming RTÉ Living Music Festival in The Helix, Dublin City University and the Up North Festival at the Project Arts Centre.

Susan also involves herself in music education and works in schools throughout the country with composers and musicians as part of the National Concert Hall Outreach Programme and with Music Network as part of their Music in Healthcare programme.
